Sudbury Theatre Centre is once again inviting submissions from writers to take part in The PlayMine, an initiative for theatre artists living in or writing about Northern Ontario.
A collaboration with Pat the Dog Theatre Creation, The PlayMine is a series of script readings taking place on three evenings throughout the season. This series will give writers vital development time, dramaturgical support and a chance to hear their work read aloud by professional actors in front of an audience. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 27. Selected playwrights will be contacted in October.
Writers from Northern Ontario or writers working on plays relevant to life in Northern Ontario are all encouraged to apply. Scripts should be complete drafts or works-in-progress from established or emerging playwrights. Scripts may have already received development (dramaturgy, workshops, readings) or limited production.
Submissions should include a cover letter with contact information and a short biography of the writer(s), a synopsis and development history of the proposed project, as well as a full draft or short sample of the script in progress.
Packages can be sent electronically in PDF or Word format to firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information, contact John McHenry email@example.com.
