Lowe’s and RONA to hire more than 60 people in Sudbury

In preparation for the home improvement industry’s busiest season, Lowe’s Canada is looking to fill more than 5,400 full-time and part-time seasonal and regular positions in its network of corporate stores this spring. In Sudbury, the company is recruiting more than 60 seasonal positions in its two stores, including 60 in Sudbury and six in Val Caron.

To kick off its spring hiring campaign, Lowe’s is holding a national hiring day on March 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in all its Lowe’s, RONA and Reno-Depot stores in Canada. Applicants are invited to visit their local store and meet the management teams.

Available positions include administrative support associates, drivers (class 1 and 3), sales associates, receiving clerks, stockers, customer service associates, cashiers and lumberyard clerks.

Experience in the home improvement sector is not required for applying since all new employees will have access to training and mentoring suited to the various positions. To accommodate student applicants, the hiring date for most seasonal jobs is flexible.


City recruiting full-time firefighters

Are you interested in joining the city’s fire services team? Applications are now being accepted for full-time firefighters.

To qualify for consideration, applicants must be 18 years of age or older; have completed Grade 12; have a valid G driver’s licence with a good driving record; and have First Aid and CPR certificates.

Individuals who proceed though the preliminary qualification process will then undergo aptitude, medical, physical and other testing.

There is a $250 administration fee for every applicant who advances to the testing phase.


Vale to host two-day hiring pop-up Feb. 25 and Feb. 27

Over the next several years, Vale’s Sudbury operations will be in a period of growth, the company says. To help meet future workforce demands, the company is hosting a two-day public hiring pop-up; one day will be held Feb. 25 and the other day Feb. 27, to support its recruitment needs.

Vale is seeking applicants for miners, supervisors, tradespeople, engineers, support staff and mine technology staff.

The pop-up takes place from 3-8 p.m. at the Copper Cliff Club, 25 Creighton Rd. on both days.
