Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity in a new Matrix movie, written and directed by Lana Wachowski.
Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman Toby Emmerich announced the big news this week, revealing the film trilogy’s director is also producing the project.
“We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana,” he said. “Lana is a true visionary, a singular and original creative filmmaker, and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe.”
The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, and The Matrix Revolutions — released between 1999 and 2003 — have earned more than $1.6 billion at the global box office, according to Deadline.
In an interview with the Sun in 2014, Reeves said he would be interested in revisiting the property if the Wachowski siblings were involved.
“It would depend on the Wachowskis, but I don’t know. It would depend on the script,” he said.
